California Estate Planning Attorney Lana Osokina brings a rare combination of compassion, competence, and efficiency to her practice. A dedicated advocate for families and individuals navigating life’s most crucial decisions, Lana is passionate about building lasting client relationships through precise and personalized legal guidance.
Whether she’s crafting a Special Needs Trust for a client’s disabled child, protecting real property rights, or making last-minute updates to an Estate Plan to help avoid probate, she takes pride in delivering timely, thoughtful solutions that honor her clients’ wishes. “At the end of the day,” says Lana, “it’s all about real-world impacts. Are the solutions I devise creating the results a family needs—when those results are most needed.”
As a California Estate Lawyer fluent in Russian and English, Lana Osokina is able to offer special support to our Russian-speaking clientele.
Distinguished Legal Education
Lana (full name Svetlana V. Osokina) holds a B.A. in Political Science from Sacramento State University and earned her J.D. from the McGeorge School of Law, where she received the prestigious Witkin Award for Global Lawyering Skills and was named to the Dean’s List. She also pursued concentrations in Business and Taxation—foundational expertise supporting her complex and nuanced approach to trust, estate, and real property matters.
Before joining CunninghamLegal, Lana advised clients on Estate Planning, Trust Administration, Probate, real estate matters, and business formation. One of her most demanding and meaningful cases involved guiding a client through complex international estate matters with the Japanese government—successfully closing probate for the family of a Hiroshima bombing survivor.
Time is often of the essence in such matters, adds Lana, and “I am proud of being able to assist clients in situations when they are running out of time but are desperate to make necessary changes to their trusts.”
Today, she continues to help clients avoid unnecessary court involvement, preserve privacy, and plan for unexpected life events with calm confidence and care. “It brings me a lot of pleasure,” says Lana, “to know that I am able to influence someone’s life through my work.”
Compassionate Legal Solutions for Families in Need
Recently, for example, Lana assisted a client concerned about properly supporting an adult child who had developed a disability and was receiving government assistance. Lana established a Special Needs Trust specifically designed to manage and protect assets for individuals with disabilities without affecting their eligibility for government programs like Medicaid or Supplemental Security Income. Through the trust, Lana helped protect the child’s financial interests and created a plan where his benefits were preserved, offering peace of mind and financial security to the family.
Community and Family Life
Deeply committed to service, Lana has volunteered her time through pro bono programs to assist underserved populations with Wills, Powers of Attorney, and Advance Healthcare Directives. She was also a member of the Folsom Rotary Club, and continues to find meaning in giving back to her community.
Outside the office, Lana treasures weekends with her husband, young son, and their two dogs—exploring local parks and playgrounds or discovering hidden gems in California’s café scene. A lifelong learner, she enjoys reading personal development books, wine tasting, and staying active with invigorating regular workouts.
